Questioning Growth
Questioning Growth
The default assumption in business is that growth is always good. More customers, more employees, more revenue, more everything. However, this pursuit of "more" can lead to increased complexity, stress, and responsibility.
Questioning growth means challenging this default assumption. It's about asking:
- Is this growth necessary?
- Will this growth make the business better, or just bigger?
- What are the hidden costs of this growth (e.g., more management, less time for core work, decreased quality)?
- Is there a simpler way to solve this problem without adding more resources?
By questioning growth, a business can often find more creative and efficient solutions. It can lead to a more resilient and profitable business in the long run. This doesn't mean never growing, but growing intentionally and thoughtfully.
The goal is to build a business that serves your life, not a life that serves your business.
