Conversion Funnel

A conversion funnel is a model for understanding the journey a customer takes from first becoming aware of a product or service to making a purchase. It's called a funnel because at each stage, some potential customers are lost, so the number of people gets smaller as they move through the process.

A typical conversion funnel for an e-commerce business might look like this:

  1. Awareness: The customer becomes aware of the product or service.
  2. Interest: The customer expresses interest in the product or service.
  3. Desire: The customer develops a desire to purchase the product or service.
  4. Action: The customer makes a purchase.

The conversion funnel is a useful tool for identifying where customers are dropping off in the buying process. By optimizing each stage of the funnel, a business can increase its conversion rate and generate more revenue.

However, it's important to remember that the conversion funnel is a simplified model. In reality, the customer journey is often more complex and less linear. Customers may move back and forth between stages, or they may enter the funnel at different points.
