Talented people work much more efficiently with each others, while adequate performers are "stealing" the resources. Great performers tend to spend time with each other. These people also actively learn when spending time together.

There was a study by Will Felps. They had multiple groups those had to accomplish some task. They added 1 actor to each group, the actors played "jerk", "Pessimist", "Slacker" roles. Those actors significantly changed the behavior of others.
