Micropreneur vs Bootstrapper
Two common paths for self-funded entrepreneurs are the Micropreneur and the Bootstrapper. While both share many of the same initial steps, their long-term goals differ.
Micropreneur
A Micropreneur aims to build a business that supports a specific lifestyle, often remaining a solo venture. They may own one or more products that collectively provide the desired income, but the primary goal is not growth for its own sake. The focus is on lifestyle design, such as location and time independence.
Bootstrapper
A Bootstrapper has a vision for a larger company, often with a small team of employees. They are focused on executing an idea and growing the company to a sustainable level. While they are also self-funded, their goals are more aligned with traditional business growth, albeit at a slower, more organic pace than a venture-backed startup.
The knowledge required for both paths is largely the same in the early stages, covering areas like finding a niche, product development, and marketing. The paths diverge when it comes to scaling the business.
