Be Open-Minded, Growth-Oriented, and Vulnerable
To successfully lead a company through growth, leaders must possess three fundamental personal qualities: being open-minded, growth-oriented, and vulnerable. These qualities are essential for creating a culture of continuous improvement and for navigating the challenges of change.
-
Open-Minded: This is the willingness to consider new ideas and different perspectives. An open-minded leader is receptive to feedback, willing to challenge their own assumptions, and ready to change for the better. The mind is like a parachute—it has to be open to work.
-
Growth-Oriented: This is the desire to grow, both personally and as an organization. A growth-oriented leader embraces the challenges and turbulence that come with growth and is always looking for ways to improve and expand.
-
Vulnerable: This is the ability to be open, honest, and authentic with your team. A vulnerable leader is willing to admit when they don't have all the answers, to acknowledge their weaknesses, and to ask for help. This creates a safe environment where others can also be vulnerable, leading to greater trust and more effective problem-solving.
These three qualities are prerequisites for successfully implementing a system like the The Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). Without them, a leadership team will struggle to make the difficult decisions and embrace the changes necessary for growth.
