Visionary and Integrator
Visionary and Integrator
In many entrepreneurial organizations, there are two key leadership roles that are essential for success: the Visionary and the Integrator. These two roles have distinct and complementary skill sets.
The Visionary
The Visionary is the big-picture thinker, the idea generator, and the creative force behind the business. They are typically the founder or owner of the company.
Key characteristics of a Visionary:
- Has 10 new ideas a week (one of which is a game-changer).
- Is a great problem-solver for big, ugly issues.
- Is excellent at building relationships with key clients and partners.
- Is passionate about the company culture.
- Operates more on emotion and intuition.
The Integrator
The Integrator is the person who takes the Visionary's ideas and makes them a reality. They are the one who runs the day-to-day operations of the business and holds the team accountable.
Key characteristics of an Integrator:
- Is a great leader, manager, and accountability-holder.
- Loves running the day-to-day aspects of the business.
- Is responsible for profit and loss.
- Removes obstacles and integrates the major functions of the business.
- Operates more on logic and data.
The Visionary/Integrator Relationship
The relationship between the Visionary and the Integrator is critical. When these two roles are clearly defined and filled by the right people, they create a powerful force for growth. The Visionary provides the "what" and the "why," and the Integrator provides the "how."
This dynamic is a key part of The Accountability Chart and is essential for getting the right people in the right seats.
